THE 5 WHYS

The "5 Whys" is a powerful tool designed to dive into the genuine reasons behind our aspirations. It takes us beyond the surface-level objectives, such as losing weight or having more energy, and uncovers the hidden forces that truly motivate our goals. By asking ourselves "why" multiple times, we can reach the heart of what drives us, gaining valuable insights into our deepest motivations.

Step 1. Start With Your Goal:

Begin by writing your goal (ex: lose 20 lbs)

Step 2: Ask Yourself "Why?":

Begin by asking yourself why you want to achieve this goal. Write down your initial answer. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, your initial answer might be: "I want to lose weight to look better."​

Step 3: Repeat the Questioning:

Continuously ask yourself "why" to the previous answer, repeating this process five times in total. Write/type down your response.

 

Continuing with the weight loss example, you might ask: "Why is it important to look better?" Your response could be: "Because I want to feel more confident..."

Step 4: Summarize Your Answers:

Once completed, consolidate the key insights from your responses into one powerful reason.

Example: Your Ultimate Why

Through losing weight and gaining confidence empowers me to pursue my passions wholeheartedly, radiating positivity and vitality as a role model for my children. Additionally, I'm dedicated to being healthy enough to actively engage in activities with my kids, providing them with experiences that I missed out on during my own childhood. I eagerly anticipate being there for their achievements and witnessing their growth throughout life.
